2009
It's New Year's Eve. Just watched the ball drop in Times Square on the tele, and felt quite happy that I went last year when it wasn't nearly as chilly as it was this year. :)
2009 begins (for the Central time zone) in about 20 minutes. I've been thinking about New Year's resolutions. I have one that will be relevant for this blog.
I'm not planning to take on any marathon training or anything. Not yet. I don't have time for that right now anyway. Though some running may be part of the routine, because I do enjoy running.
The goal is to exercise for 210 minutes a week, at a minimum. Approximately 30 minutes a day or so, if I can keep it regular.
The idea I have is to cut out about 250 calories from my diet per day (e.g., one soda and one fun-size candy bar) while also adding exercise to burn about 250 calories to each day.
See where I'm going with this?
If I can detract at least 500 calories per day, that'll be 3500 per week, which is one pound. If I can keep this up, by summer I'll have a lovely bikini body (well, at least as lovely as it was back in high school/college).
So that's the plan. I don't know if I'll have time to chronicle the joys and woes, but I thought putting it in writing might help me keep the commitment to myself. :)
Happy new year, everyone! And good luck with your own resolutions!
